Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy & Cookies Policy

General order information

We will endeavour to complete items within the specified time scale as agreed upon within our contract, providing the materials required to complete the work are available when the project is due to begin.  We will keep the client informed of any delays due to supply issues or any other factors.

To avoid misunderstandings, we cannot accept telephone orders.  Any changes to orders must be made in writing and a price for additional work and/or materials must be agreed upon before any further work is undertaken.

If additional work comes to light once a project is underway, that may not have been apparent at the time of the quotation, the client will be informed and a course of action will be agreed upon.

We will provide or arrange collection of items within 7 working days of the project start date and will arrange delivery within 7 working days of completion, at a time which is mutually convenient.  It is the client’s responsibility to check the condition of the goods upon receipt and to report any damage immediately.  Any problems with an order must be brought to our attention within 7 days of receipt of the order.  Any corrections made after 7 days will be charged for.  Any items not collected or delivery arrangements made within 14 days of completion will be liable to storage charges.

We cannot be held responsible for the behaviour of a product where the client has acted against the manufacturer/retailer instruction with regards to care and treatments.

We will not be responsible for any charges incurred if another company makes corrections, nor will this remove your responsibility for the original bill.  Any corrections that are not our fault will be charged for.

Upholstery Services

We will do our best to advise customers on the suitability of fabrics, whether supplied by us or not.  We can only take responsibility for materials which are supplied by ourselves.  Fabric supplied by the client is at their own risk.

We reserve the right to refuse a fabric supplied by the client if it is not suitable for the intended project.  We reserve the right to apply a 20% surcharge for handling fabrics, provided by the client, that are being reused and are not bought new on the roll.  We cannot be held responsible for flaws in the fabric; if we cannot avoid them we will notify you.

There will be a 25% surcharge added where The Krooked Kat can supply fabric but the client chooses to purchase from another supplier.

All old covers will be removed prior to re-upholstery of an item.  These covers will be discarded unless stated otherwise by the client.  This must be written into the order in advance of the start of a project.

All new fillings added to a piece of furniture manufactured after 1950 will be in full compliance with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended in 1989, 1993 and 2010).  All new fabric used for coverings that are supplied by us will be in compliance with the above regulations, with the exception of covers containing 75% natural fibres.  In these situations a fire retardant interliner/barrier cloth will be used.  Furniture manufactured prior to 1950 does not fall within the scope of the above regulations.

Unless stated otherwise, the re-upholstery of an item is the replacement of the old fabric with new.  Any additional repairs or the replacement of any materials used within a project, such as padding and springs, will be stated in the quotation if discovered or discussed at the quotation stage.

If a client supplies their own fabric, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the fabric is fit for the purpose it is intended and complies with the fire safety regulations mentioned above.

Payment terms

A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the quoted amount is required upon acceptance of a quotation, this secures your place in our diary.  A further 40% is due 2 weeks before the start of a project.  The balance is due in full within 7 days of completion of said project.  Interest on overdue invoices will be charged at 4% per annum or part thereof, and will also be subject to an administration fee of £25.00.  Prices listed in quotations are valid for 30 days.  Written acceptance of a quotation forms a contract and is an acceptance of the terms and conditions as set out in this document.

Carriage and delivery charges are extra and may not always be listed as part of the quotation.

All prices are in pounds sterling.  We accept payment by bank transfer.  We also accept payment by cash (on delivery) or personal cheque.  We are no longer able to accept payment by credit and debit cards.

Notice of right to cancel

If you wish to cancel your contract you must do so in writing and deliver confirmation personally or send it by post or email to The Krooked Kat.  Once we have taken receipt of an item, any work carried out must be paid for in full.  Once completed, items made to order cannot be cancelled or refunded.

Our normal office hours are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.  All complaints should be made in writing to thekrookedkat@gmail.com and will be responded to within 14 days.  The Krooked Kat takes all concerns seriously and will respond within a timely manner.
